Halton OPEN has had yet another busy year. We are in the process of undertaking a membership survey on Isolation and Loneliness – if you haven’t already, please take the time to complete the form on this site if you are over 50 and live in Halton. We continue to get out and about in the community – we are at Widnes Market every fortnight on a Friday and also have a drop in session in Runcorn at the Spritualist Church fortnightly on a Wednesday as well as being visible at events and community centres when we can.

Our Consultation Panel are working hard to represent the older people in the Borough through their direct engagement with Halton Borough Council at the Older Peoples’ Reference Group and our Committee attend several high-level meetings including the Older Peoples’ Delivery Board at the Council to ensure that your views are fed in at the right level, to the right people.

We held our successful AGM in September which featured some very interesting talks and our Fun for All event earlier this month (thanks go to the Heath School in Runcorn and to Older But Wiser Wellbeing for their support with this event) and we have kept up our meeting with the MPs for the area – we had our first meeting with Mr Mike Amesbury MP several months’ back and this was a good opportunity to inform him about our work and our campaigns.

Our Fun for All event at the Heath.

Richard (Chair of Halton Open) and Dave Austin (Vice-Chair) meet with Mr Mike Amesbury MP.

Finally, our “Did You Know?” has been published and is available to download from this website (a paper version will be distributed to our members in due course) and the Autumn newsletter is also available on the Newsletters page.  Enjoy!

Please let us know if you are interested in being involved – we value our members immensely and we would always welcome those who want to be a little more active to join our Consultation Panel or our friendly Committee.
